HOME GARDENERS

Love your soil and your garden will love you.

Investing in your soil will return joy and satisfaction from your gardening efforts. There are a couple of key principles that will keep your garden happy, healthy and efficient in water use.

  1. Amend your soil with a high quality mature compost, you don’t need large quantities of quality compost, small amounts applied in autumn and spring will do wonders for your garden.
  2. Keep your soil covered, I can not emphasis how critically important this is. A woody composted  mulch will protect your soil from fluctuations in temperatures, reduce evaporation and erosion and support the biology in the soil to continue supplying nutrients to your plants.
